Garboldisham Exhibiting HEFA Finds

Garboldisham, Norfolk, was not only a new village for HEFA earlier this year but also our first site of the season. There will be an exhibition of some of the finds found in the test-pits from 11am- 4pm this Saturday, 17th September at St. John the Baptist church.

Students selected as Gifted & Talented from 5 schools in Norfolk and Suffolk dug twelve test pit sites in the village last March. As you might imagine for that time of year, it was a chilly couple of days but the rain held off and everyone dug all the harder to keep warm! We were interested to find that the majority of the medieval pottery came from sites north of the A1066 with the south of the village seemingly only occupied during post-medieval times. You can find a map of the test pit locations and the pottery report on our website here.
