An architectural historian and Chariman of the Bures History Society, Leigh Alston will be appearing on Thursday’s (9th February) episode of Restoration Man on Channel 4 at 9pm. Leigh set up the Bures Common Land charitable trust which raised money to purchase the land where our Bures St Mary community excavation is taking place in June as part of the Managing a Masterpiece scheme. An authority of timber-framed buildings, Leigh also teaches medieval architecture to undergraudates at the University of Cambridge.
Thursday’s episode of Restoration Man follows the restoration of Castle Farm, St George’s Super-Ely, a Grade I listed Medieval manor house, with a first-floor Medieval hall. Presented by the architect George Clarke, the series follows new owners as they restore historic and vulnerable buildings.
