To concide with the February half term school holidays, ACA ran a couple of Discovery Days of archaeological activities earlier this week for budding time travellers. Hosted by Downing College at the University of Cambridge, the days were aimed at Gifted & Talented students in school years 7-9 in collaboration with the charity for high ability learners, Excellence East. All of the students said that they would recommend Discovery Days to other students and over 90% rated the days as Excellent or Very Good in feedback after the courses. When asked if there was anything we could improve for another time, one student who attended on Monday said “it’s good enough as it is, 10 out of 10!” Another student found that “you learn more than you think you will and it’s really cool holding real artefacts and it’s satisfying finding something out.” There was high praise for the course leaders who “were helpful and met every need” and the activities were “interesting, fun and informative” providing “an excellent opportunity to learn about something not covered in school.”
ACA are shortly concluding this winter’s programme of Discovery Days, in anticipation of the field season starting again in March, but we will be running activity days again in Cambridge next academic year. Get in touch to receive notification of dates and courses in the autumn.
