With the broadcasting of the new Michael Wood’s TV series ‘The Great British Story – A People’s History’ in May-June 2012, BBC Learning is supporting a range of live events across the country to celebrate local history and to inspire the public to find out more about their own area.
There will also be opportunities to learn more about setting up your own historical society and/or applying for Heritage Lottery Funding to create your own local history projects. Cambridge Community Heritage, a project matching local community groups with the support and expertise of Cambridge University researchers to make joint bids, will be present at the event at Ickworth Hall, Suffolk on Sunday 20th May. For more information about registering your community group’s interest in the Cambridge Community Heritage project, please see the website here.
A full list of upcoming activities related to the Great British Story is on the BBC’s Things To Do website here.
