Yesterday’s weather was a classic case of April showers so to help ward off the rain gods as we continue excavating at Ridley Hall we have enlisted the help of our old friends at Newnham College. The groundsmen were exceptionally helpful when we dug in Newnham’s gardens in 2010 and have again offered use of their marquees to keep us dry. Many thanks to Tony and his team.
With a few new CAFG volunteers today we have opened a new slot across the Romano-British ditch and are extending the section of another potential feature in one corner of the site. Finds today have included a re-touched scraper and a bronze/copper strap end.
A photographer from the Cambridge News visited the site this afternoon and the excavation will be featured on p3 of tomorrow’s edition.
