Long Melford Heritage Centre to Open

Picture 002

A long-awaited heritage centre will be opening soon in the Suffolk village of Long Melford. The centre opens to the public on Friday 18th May at the Memorial Village Hall and entry is free. Alongside local photographs, the centre will feature displays from the 2011 Long Melford Big Dig to be shown later in the month on ‘The Great British Story – A People’s History’ featuring Michael Wood and Dr Carenza Lewis, who ran the community test-pit excavations.

Local historians, Rob Simpson and John Nunn, have produced a local history map to coincide with the launch of the heritage centre. You can see a full size copy of the map at the Long Melford village website here.
