Clare Castle Volunteer Applications Update

We received an unprecedented number of applications to volunteer on the Clare Castle excavations and places were two and half times oversubscribed – a record 113 applications in total! As stated in our publicity material, our tender to run the excavations identified several priority groups for volunteer places (residents of Clare parish, students enrolled at Stour Valley Community School, members of Clare Historical Society), after which, we have prioritised residents of the Managing a Masterpiece project area along the Stour Valley. With additional support from Managing a Masterpiece, we are delighted to offer applicants (who requested multiple dates) from these groups at least two days on the excavation. All applicants have been contacted by e-mail today about the allocation of volunteer places.

We will be hosting tours twice daily (12:30pm & 3:30pm) during the excavations (Thursday 23rd – Friday 31st May 2013) and all are welcome to visit to see the work in progress.
