Freudian Slips on BBC Radio Cambs Today

Members of a Cambridge Community Heritage supported community group, Freudian Slips, will be interviewed on the Sue Dougan show on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire this afternoon between 2-3pm.

Freudian Slips aim to promote women’s creativity by staging performance events, and are particularly interested in themes which explore issues relevant to women’s lives both past and present. Their Heritage Lottery Funded All Our Stories project will be looking at laundry work which has been a significant employment for Cambridge women since the late 19th Century. By interviewing past and present workers from the commercial laundries they will uncover stories about the women’s working lives and some of the key events which have taken place particularly in the past fifty years. These stories will be launched at an exhibition, placed as pod-casts on a website and broadcast on community radio. Freudian Slips will further develop the theme of the lives of generations of laundry women through creative writing and performance workshops, culminating in a multi-media performance piece at the end of 2013.
