Saffron Walden Common Dig on BBC Radio Essex

Just a quick post to tell you that an interview recorded by Chris Penhall of BBC Essex, visiting the Saffron Walden Common Dig last week will  be broadcast on Monday 29th July at 11.10 am.  By a stroke of luck, Chris arrived just as the medieval pottery had finally turned up in the bottom of the ditch in Trench 2 – a time of considerable excitement and great satisfaction!  She talked to Dr Carenza Lewis (excavation director), Carolyn Wingfield (Curator of Saffron Walden Museum) and student diggers Rob, Poppy and Connor, although we have no idea how this has been edited and what will make it to the airwaves – listen in to find out!

Radio Exxes interview Thursday 25th July
Chris Penhall of BBC Radio Essex interviews some of the students taking part in the excavavations, while in the background Jessica Rippengal keeps a watchful eye on the continuing excavation of the medieval ditch in Trench 2 as visitors outside the security fencing find out for themselves what’s been going on
