In March 2013, the Council for British Archaeology (CBA) facilitated a UK-wide forum for volunteer groups to stimulate debate on the role of the voluntary sector in archaeology in the 21st century. A paper has been published outlining key discussion outcomes from the forum to encourage wider discussion and debate within societies across the UK. The CBA are very interested in hearing responses from local archaeological and historical socieites to these issues, so that they can help support them in the future. You can download the discussion paper and response form from the CBA website here. The deadline for responses is 27 September 2013.
Dr Carenza Lewis, Director of Access Cambridge Archaeology, was one of the presenters at the discussion-based weekend forum held in York in March 2013 for local archaeological and historical societies to explore common issues and share good practice. You can watch a video of her presentation on YouTube here, and follow the presentation slides on the CBA website here.
