Join in Sudbury’s Community Archaeological Dig in 2014

Director of Access Cambridge Archaeology, Dr Carenza Lewis, will be at St Peter’s Church in Sudbury on Wednesday 30th October at 7:30pm to talk about plans for a community test pit digging programme in the town proposed for September 2014. If you’re interested in finding out how you get involved in digging, or offer your garden to be dug, or help in the organisation of volunteers and finds on the day, then come along to the free event or get in touch with Sudbury History Society at info@sudburyhistorysociety.co.uk

  1. will I be eligible to volunteer for this clem, Gerry

    • Hi Gerry,

This event is being jointly coordinated by the Sudbury Society (http://www.sudburysociety.org.uk/), the Sudbury History Society (http://www.sudburyhistorysociety.co.uk/) and the Sudbury Museum Trust (http://www.sudburysuffolk.co.uk/photoarchive/contact.asp). I suggest you get in touch with them directly to ask about their volunteer arrangements. My impression at the moment is that they are still in the early stages of planning. The talk on the 30th is to gauge the level of interest in the town, ready to start organising for a dig to take place in the autumn of 2014. The best person to contact for more information and to register your interest is David Burnett (david.burnett@uwclub.net).

  2. Dear Clem and Carenza, We would be very interested in getting involved as a school in some way. Do you see any role for some of our children perhaps? Best wishes, see you tomorrow, Carl
